Synopsis:  The Civil War affected two similar men in completely different ways.  It made the captain a hard man; tired of fighting, tired of the carnage of war on both soldiers and civilians. The other man is war torn and wants to break the mindset of a soldier; shoot first ask questions later.  In an effort to leave their past behind they head up a wagon train of people following their dreams and head out on the Oregon Trail.  They both learn that no matter how far they ride, their past either follows them or greets them at the end of the trail.  In this first movie of the Coyote Creek saga we see how a young John Taylor MacLennan’s quick temper and quicker trigger finger can’t keep his personal demons at bay. We see him establish relationships and lose close friends in the savageness of the west.  The killing fields of the West did not differ much from the war, and yet he struggled with the unfamiliar battle lines and mercy of a women’s love.  The birth of a town in desperate need of a vision is where he finds his place in life.  Will the death of one woman and the love of another break through John Taylor’s hard heart?

Coyote Creek: The Heart of Horses

Status: In Development
Genre: Western Drama

Screenplay by Tom White
Story Line by Tom White / BettyJean Schuster / Heather Barklow

Synopsis: In the heart of the great Northwest there is a place some folks think is God’s country. In this, the third chapter of the Coyote Creek saga, we find ourselves getting pulled into a cultural battle, where Whiteman’s greed and indifference changes the west forever. The late 1800’s is a time of great struggle in the high desert of Central Oregon and within this newly settled territory, John Taylor MacLennan, his expecting wife Martha and their little girl Jess, are working together to build their dream. The vast changes of the west have impacted the Indian Nations as they are manipulated and forced onto reservations, and their herds of horses are abandoned to join wild mustangs. Just as the buffalo were massacred, the US Calvary actively lead slaughter campaigns against the mustangs. The Military attitude of, “Kill the horses and you kill the heart of the Indians” shows the callous mindset of an ever expanding country. In a rise against injustice we see a Sergeant stand his ground, a eccentric mountain man leave his mountains, and John Taylor in his reluctance to fight another battle, stand beside Martha in protecting the mustangs and defending the Indians. In their stance for justice relationships are tested, and tragically, lives are lost.
Coyote Creek: The Heart of Horses encompasses the passion and the freedom of both man and horse. Ride along and learn that, “In the Heart of every horse is the passion to be free and to ride a horse is to borrow its freedom”.
